I was wondering what Matthew Modine is doing. Haven’t seen him in a long time.

Modine, 53, who was born in Loma Linda, Calif., and grew up in Utah, co-stars in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. But the actor, who starred in Full Metal Jacket, late director Stanley Kubrick’s saga about U.S. Marines and Vietnam, is especially pumped about the film’s upcoming 25th anniversary because it coincides with the re-formatting of his own 2005 book, Full Metal Jacket Diary, into a new interactive smart phone and tablet app. “It has photos from my book and a new forward I wrote about Kubrick’s life and passing,” says Modine, who says the movie, recently re-released on Blu-ray and DVD, was the most intense film on which he ever worked.
