Peggy Biggs, Mike’s mom on the hit CBS comedy, is played by the award-winning theatrical actress Rondi Reed, 59.

The Dixon, Ill.-born actress’ numerous TV show appearances include “Roseanne,” “Seinfeld,” “Home Improvement,” “The Practice,” “A Streetcar Named Desire,” “Murder in the Heartland” and “Normal.”

Most recently, Reed appeared in the HBO miniseries “You Don’t Know Jack.” Her feature films include “Jungle 2 Jungle,” “The Astronaut’s Wife” and “Fearless.”

But where Reed really shines is in the theater. She has been a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago for 30 years, appearing in more than 50 productions. She won a Tony Award in 2008 for her performance in the Broadway show “August: Osage County.” Her other theater awards include the 1991 Sarah Siddons Award for “Another Time” and Joseph Jefferson awards for “Waiting for the Parade” and “The Fall to Earth.”

Her theater credits are too long to list, but they include the Broadway production of “Wicked” and the Off-Broadway production of Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” In addition, she has performed at the National Theatre of Great Britain, Festivals of Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and the Galway Festival of Ireland.
