It’s more than a quick hop from Hollywood, but the 49th state has hosted several movie productions over the years, including The Thing, Insomnia, Runaway Train and Into the Wild. A lot of films and TV shows with Alaska settings are shot elsewhere, including the 2009 movie The Proposal and television’s Men in Trees and Northern Exposure.
