North America
By Huw Corday
Hardcover, 288 pages ($30 / Running Press)

A companion to the seven-part Discovery Channel series of the same name premiering May 19, this handsome coffee-table book chronicles the amazing spectrum of geography, natural events, and animal and plant life of the Earth’s third-largest continent, which stretches from the sub-zero frozen tundra of Canada and Greenland to the sweltering tropics of Panama. In addition to more than 250 photos, there are also essays on the formation of the North American land mass millions of years ago, numerous mini-narratives about various topics covered in the book’s wide-ranging travelogue, and a look at the production of the Discovery team’s three-year project.
