Whatever happened to the Beatles’ original drummer, Pete Best?

—Kristin Mason, Bowling Green, Ky.

After joining the Beatles in 1960 and helping to bring them to fame in England, he was fired two years later by manager Brian Epstein and never heard from any of the group members again. “I gave up wondering and worrying about that many, many years ago,” says Best, 62. “What happened 40 years ago isn’t going to change.” Today leading his own Pete Best Band, he has a new CD, Haymans Green, on which he shares drumming duties with his younger brother, Roag. He lives in

Liverpool, England, with his wife of 45 years, Cathy, and has two daughters and four grandchildren.
