Rescue that molding
Use nippers to pull finish nails through the back side of millwork and paneling. This leaves the face of the wood unmarred and reusable.

Use a block of wood to hold your handsaw on the mark and square to the board’s surface. It’ll help protect your fingers too.

Perfectly placed pictures
Slack in a picture-hanging wire sometimes makes it hard to figure exactly how high to place a nail. Here’s the solution: Put a brad through a paint stirring stick, hang your picture on the brad, hold it where you want it, then push in on the stick so the brad’s tip marks the wall where you should drive the nail.
