Leland (pop. 4,481) renamed a bridge over Deer Creek “The Rainbow Connection” in honor of Muppets creator Jim Henson (1936-1990), who grew up and played near the creek. In The Muppet Movie (1979), Kermit the Frog sings “The Rainbow Connection” while sitting on a log in a swamp inspired by Deer Creek.
