—Irene D., Mississippi
At 83, Robert Stack still hosts the popular Unsolved Mysteries show, which airs on Lifetime television. He made his big-screen debut at age 20 in the 1939 movie First Love, opposite Deanna Durbin, followed two years later by his starring role opposite Carole Lombard in To Be or Not To Be. Stack's film work was interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the Navy. After the war, he resumed his career and went on to earn an Academy Award nomination for his role in Written on the Wind in 1956. Stack made the transition to television in one of his best-known roles, Eliot Ness in The Untouchables, which aired from 1959-63 and earned him an Emmy award. During his six decades in show business, Stack has appeared in dozens of features, television movies, and series.
