Robin Roberts, who also hosts ABC's Wide World of Sports, as well as covering other assignments for both networks, knows, as an athlete, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Roberts was a standout on the women's basketball team at Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU), where she graduated with honors in 1983. Roberts was inducted into the SLU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991. She joined ESPN in 1990, after working as a sports anchor in Atlanta; Nashville, Tenn.; and Biloxi and Hattiesburg, Miss. She is a native of Tuskegee, Ala., (pop. 11,504).
