Recently I saw Rod Taylor in Hotel on Turner Classic Movies. Can you tell me something about him?
—S. Radunz, West Allis, Wis.
Born in Sydney, Australia, the ruggedly handsome Taylor came to the U.S. in 1954 and became a big success in Hollywood. He had been retired until director Quentin Tarantino convinced him to appear as Sir Winston Churchill in his 2009 World War II film Inglourious Basterds. Among his many other movies are The Birds, The Time Machine, Dark of the Sun, The Glass Bottom Boat, Sunday in New York, The Train Robbers and The Picture Show Man. The actor, 81, also paints and has dabbled in pottery and furniture making.
