Ely, the 15th actor to portray Tarzan onscreen, says he’s now appearing at nostalgia shows to restart his career. “I’ve got to do this to let people know I’m still alive,” says the actor, 74, who lives in southern California. Following his memorable stint in the jungle from 1966 to 1968, the native of Hereford, Texas, starred in the title role of the 1975 movie Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze. He served as host of the 1980-1981 game show 'Face the Music' and starred in a syndicated version of 'Sea Hunt' in 1987. The first season of Ely’s 'Tarzan' is available on DVD.
