Q I have never seen anything about actor Rutger Hauer. What can you tell me about him?

Hauer grew up in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and ran away to sea at 15, scrubbing decks aboard a freighter. When he returned home, he worked as an electrician and carpenter while attending acting classes at night. You may have seen him in Blade Runner, Nighthawks, Sin City, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind or any of the other 50 or so movies in which he's appeared, as well as guest starring in TV's Alias and Smallville. He recently completed a role in Never Enough, a love story. He married his second wife, Ineke, in 1985.
