What can you tell me about the actor who plays Nico on “Necessary Roughness”? Has he been in any other TV shows or movies?

Dianna Arthur, West Baden Springs, Ind.

On TV, he has appeared in “Person of Interest,” “Pan Am,” “Blue Bloods,” “Unforgettable,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “CSI,” “Castle,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Street Time,” “NYPD Blue,” “Cashmere Mafia,” “Law & Order: Trial by Jury,” “The Practice,” “Without a Trace,” and in the TV movies and miniseries “The 10th Kingdom,” “Perfect Murder, Perfect Town,” and “Gotti,” and the list goes on.

His film roles include “Everybody’s Fine,” “Please Give,” “Love and Other Drugs,” “Winter of Frozen Dreams,” “Get the Gringo,” “Kissing Jessica Stein,” “Loveless,” “3 Weeks to Daytona,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” “A Brother’s Kiss,” “The Mambo Kings,” “Private Parts,” “Knots” and “Brother’s Shadow.”

The Bronx, N.Y.-born actor, the son of jazz musician Jack Cohen, had originally intended a career in music, but after enrolling in a clown class while attending the State University of New York, he changed direction to acting.

Cohen, 50, lives in New York City with his wife, playwright Anastasia Traina, and son, Liam.

“I’ve always played characters that are a lot more talkative, a lot more energetic, a lot more involved,” Cohen says of his role on “Necessary Roughness.” “What attracted me to Nico in the beginning was how quietly energetic he was. I mean, he was so quiet but so intense, and that to me is always interesting.”
