Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, played the folk/pop singer in Take Me Home: The John Denver Story, which aired in 2000. Denver, whose hit songs included "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Rocky Mountain High" and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," died in 1997 when the airplane he was piloting crashed off the coast of California.
