The Living Room Sessions
B.J. Thomas
CD ($9.99 / Redeye)

The iconic singer, whose mellow stylings found themselves equally at home in pop, country and gospel music, celebrates a career that stretches across five decades by re-recording a dozen of his greatest hits in a stripped-down, acoustic setting and asking a batch of his pals to join him. Guests include Vince Gill (“I Just Can’t Help Believing”) Lyle Lovett (“Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”) and Steve Tyrell (“Rock and Roll Lullaby”), plus Richard Marx, Keb’ Mo’ and Issac Slade, lead singer of the band The Fray. And Thomas “strips down” things further by doing four of his hit songs solo, with minimal accompaniment: “Don’t Worry Baby,” “Eyes of a New York Woman,” “Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love” and “Everybody’s Out of Town.”
