Why did Mary McDonough decide to write a book all these years later about her time on The Waltons?

According to McDonough, 50, her motivation was twofold. “My first reason to write Lessons From the Mountain, What I Learned From Erin Walton was to help other people,” she says. “I never want anyone to feel the way I did growing up—with body image issues and health problems such as implants and lupus. I decided to tell my story hoping it would educate women to make better choices for themselves. I also wanted to share my wonderful, wacky Walton experiences and lessons learned.”
