Hoda Kotb, 49, was born in Norman, Oklahoma, and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. Her parents are from Egypt, where she lived for a year as a child. She began her career in 1986 as a news assistant in Cairo, Egypt. In addition to “Today,” for which she won a daytime Emmy in 2010, Kotb has been a “Dateline” NBC correspondent since 1998, and she is a “New York Times” best-selling author for her book, “Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer and Kathie Lee.” A breast cancer survivor, she lives in New York City.
