Yip, 28, the judge on HGTV Design Star, the TV competition to find America's next top designers, was born in Hong Kong, received a master of architecture degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and lives in Atlanta, where he runs his own interior-design company. You also may remember him from the four seasons he spent on the TLC network's Trading Spaces, or from his involvement in the NBC series Home Intervention. On Sept. 12, he'll launch his own half-hour HGTV series, Deserving Design, working with homeowners whose domiciles desperately need some sprucing up.
