Like her TV character, Madsen, 49, cherishes family time around the dinner table. “Our family sits down for dinner on the show, which was important for me to have in the script, because that is really important for me in real life,” says Madsen, who has a teenage son. “I cook and I sit down for dinner whenever I can. I also cook breakfast before my son goes to school. You are not just teaching your kids how to eat well—you are teaching them how to care for themselves. That is something that is getting lost in the American family.
