Wendi McLendon-Covey is so funny on Reno 911, and now I see where she’s in the new comedy film Bridesmaids. Was she ever a bridesmaid in real life?

Was she ever! McLendon-Covey, 41, walked down the aisle eight times as a bridesmaid—and she kept all eight dresses! She fondly recalls a flaming purple number with sleeves the size of her head and pumps dyed to match. But her wedding garments didn’t go to waste. “I got a lot of wear out of my bridesmaids dresses,” says the actress, who used them as costumes for comedy skits with The Groundlings, the Los Angeles-based improv group. “Sketch comedy is great for dragging out the old outfits.” She and her husband, Greg, have been married since 1996.
