The native of Harrah, Oklahoma, was best known as troubleshooter Jim Hardie in the TV series “Tales of Wells Fargo” (1957-1962), but he also starred in TV’s “The Iron Horse,” “Dynasty” and “J.J. Starbuck,” and hosted “Death Valley Days.” A skilled horseman from his youth, the World War II veteran made more than 30 movies, most of them Westerns, and owned a horse ranch in Yukon, Oklahoma, for many years. He died in February 2013 from lung cancer and pneumonia at age 89.
