While the 1982-1990 TV series “Newhart” was set in Vermont and taped in Los Angeles studios, the opening credits are outtakes from the 1981 film “On Golden Pond,” which was filmed in New Hampshire. The five names on the sign are the following New Hampshire locations: Sandwich Notch, Mead Base, Holderness, Ashland and Plymouth.
