I just finished watching the 2010 version of the movie Ice Castles and it had me wondering about Robby Benson. What he is doing nowadays?
—C.J. Haynes, Charleston, W.Va.
Benson, 57, who starred in the original Ice Castles with Lynn-Holly Johnson in 1978, lives in Bloomington, Ind., where he’ll begin a new gig this fall as part of the teaching faculty in the telecommunications department at Indiana University. Last year the actor-director wrote an interactive iBook titled I’m Not Dead…Yet! after four open-heart surgeries to correct a congenital defect. “I wrote it for my cardiac brothers and sisters,” he says. ”Four open-heart surgeries made me feel like I wanted to share and help my cardiac family all over the world.” Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in New York, Benson and his wife, singer Karla DeVito, 60, have two children, Lyric and Zephyr. Zephyr recently wrote, directed and starred in the movie “Straight Outta Tompkins,” which his parents co-produced.
