What nationality is Olga Kurylenko on “Magic City”? She plays a Cuban, but I don’t think that is right.
—Diego Cruz, Tulsa, Okla.
Kurylenko, 33, was born in Berdyansk, Ukraine, which at that time was part of the Soviet Union, to an Ukranian father and a mother of Russian and Belarusian ancestry. She began her career as a model in Moscow at age 13, moving to Paris at 16, where she quickly became a cover girl. She launched her acting career in a music video, but her role as the latest “Bond girl” in “Quantum of Solace” brought her international notice. In addition to the TV series “Magic City,” Kurylenko can be seen in the new Tom Cruise movie “Oblivion” as well as “Erased,” “To the Wonder” and “Seven Psychopaths.”
