Tom Bodett has such a pleasant voice in those Motel 6 commercials. Could you let us see what he looks like?
—Lloydeen Hines, Erie, Kan.
Bodett, 58, who was born in Champaign, Ill., and grew up in Sturgis, Mich., has been the brand spokesman for the Motel 6 lodging chain for more than 26 years. The writer, voice actor and radio host made his national broadcasting debut in 1984 on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and is currently a panelist on NPR’s satirical weekend news quiz, “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me.” He lives in Dummerston, Vt., where he tells us he raises kids, makes things out of wood and explores the tipping point of his tractor. In May, Bodett and the creators of the Motel 6 campaign were inducted into the Clio Advertising Hall of Fame.
