The Emmy Award-winning actor, 87, is mostly retired and lives in northern California. Known for his roles in the TV series The Farmer's Daughter, My World and Welcome to It and Murder, She Wrote, Windom made his movie debut in 1962's To Kill a Mockingbird. Trekkies applauded the Broadway veteran's appearance in a 2004 episode of Star Trek: New Voyages, reprising the role of Commodore Matt Decker, a character he originated in a 1967 episode of  the original Star Trek TV series.
