Acclaimed indie coming-of-age tale stars Paul Giamatti as a down-on-his-luck lawyer and high school wrestling coach whose fortunes begin to turn when his family takes in Kyle, a runaway teen who certainly knows his way around the mat. But the road to an underdog championship gets bumpy in this quirky comedy-drama when the young athlete’s messy family issues catch up with him. Bobby Cannavale provides dependable chuckles as the coach’s best friend and over-enthusiastic athletic booster, and Amy Ryan, Burt Young and Jeffrey Tambor round out the capable cast, which also includes a most impressive debut by Alex Shaffer, the real-life former New Jersey State Wrestling champ who plays Kyle.
